1
Soften the denture adhesive while your dentures are still in your mouth. Fill a small cup with warm water, and swish the water around in your mouth. The warm water helps loosen the grip the adhesive has formed between your gums and your dentures.
-
2
Spit out the warm water. Remove the lower dentures by gently pulling forward while wiggling them back and forth, like you would do with a loose tooth. Grasp the upper dentures and carefully pull up and out, as if moving the dentures toward your nose.

3
Effervescent denture tablets are formulated especially to clean dentures. Place your dentures in a bowl with water and effervescent denture tablets. Leave the dentures in the solution overnight to cleanse them and remove adhesive stuck to the dentures.

Brushing your gums is important for good dental health. Moisten a washcloth with warm water. Rub the cloth over your gums to remove stuck-on denture adhesive. Wet your toothbrush, add a pea-size amount of toothpaste and brush your gums to clean off remaining denture adhesive.

Remove the dentures from the denture-cleaning solution. Rinse them with warm water. If any adhesive remains, clean it off by brushing with a damp toothbrush and rinsing with water.
