Eat another type of food, such as several sprigs of fresh parsley, to remove your onion breath. Other foods you can eat to help remove onion breath include mashed potatoes, mushrooms, carrots or lemons. If a meal has garlic and any of these foods together, it is a good idea to eat the garlic dish first, followed by the other foods.

Chew a piece of strongly flavored chewing gum or a mint. Many types of gum on the market today advertise that they can remove bad breath caused by various types of food, including onions.

Drink a cup of green tea or mint tea to eliminate the smell of onions. Lemon juice or fresh lemonade can also help in removing onion breath, though be careful with store-bought lemonade, as most does not contain much lemon juice.

Brush your teeth immediately following the meal in order to get rid of onion breath. Carrying a small travel-size toothbrush and toothpaste tube helps make this more convenient.
