View your teeth in a well-lit mirror, taking note of yellow areas of tartar low, near the gum line. Scrape the yellow tartar from the front and back of the teeth with a professional-grade, metal dental pick. Not puncturing sensitive areas such as the gums with the scraper will avoid irritation and possible damage. The previously performed steps will have softened the tartar, making it easier to remove.
