How to Cure Bad Odors

Knowing how to cure bad breath odors can make the difference between the perfect first kiss and not hearing from your potential boyfriend or girlfriend. Bad dental odors are usually caused by bacteria between the teeth, near the gums and on your tongue. Remove the bacteria to enhance your breath and prevent health problems, such as gum disease. If you have unpleasant breath, taking extra good care of your teeth and tongue can help you get comfortable with others.

Instructions

    • 1

Put two drops of toothpaste onto the toothbrush, and then scrub your tongue in a circular motion for two to three minutes. Rinse your mouth out with water when finished. Brush your tongue every time you brush your teeth to banish bad odors.

    • 2

Chew strong-flavored gum, such as cinnamon and peppermint gum, to cure bad dental odors. Gum has the ability to make you salivate, which can ultimately get rid of odors and other bacteria within your mouth. The scent of the gum can mask the odor as your saliva is bettering your mouth.

    • 3

Drink eight cups of water throughout the day. Just like your saliva, water can help reduce the number of odor-causing bacteria in your mouth.

    • 4

Brush with a new toothbrush. Food particles and other bacteria will start to build up on your toothbrush three to four months after purchase, which can further cause dental odors. Choose a soft-bristled toothbrush to not only brush your teeth, but to comfort your teeth from hard bristles.

Floss your teeth and use mouthwash. Bacteria and bad breath can be caused by leftover food particles in-between your teeth. Take a strand of floss, and then go between each tooth to clean up the food residue. Gargle ½ cup mouthwash, and then spit it out.
