How to Make a Tooth Model for a School Project

Teeth are an important part of the digestion process because they break down food before sending it to the stomach. Because of their importance, maintenance of teeth is necessary for good health. Brushing and flossing are two of the main practices of taking care of teeth and should be taught at an early age to prevent future problems. A way to illustrate how to take care of teeth is to make a tooth model for a school project.

Instructions

    • 1

Place 20 marshmallows in an oval shape on a piece of card stock. The marshmallows will represent the teeth. Draw an oval shape around the marshmallows, with about 1 inch of space between the marshmallows and the oval line. Remove the marshmallows from the card stock and cut the oval shape out with a pair of scissors. Fold the oval in half and open flat to form a crease across the middle.

    • 2

Make a ring of glue around the inner perimeter of the oval, about an inch from the outer edge. Place 10 marshmallows on the top half of the oval and 10 on the bottom half. Try to give a few millimeters space between "teeth". Wait 15 minutes for the glue to dry.

    • 3

Form a tongue for the model by drawing a large "U" on the bottom half of the oval. The curved end of the "U" should sit about an inch from the bottom row of marshmallows. Color the tongue in with a red crayon or marker.

    • 4

Fold the oval in half to make sure it can be opened and closed without damage. The "mouth" you have created will make a great school project to model how to brush and floss.
