Treatments at Dental Colleges
-
Cost
-
The cost of a given procedure is generally much lower at a dental college than at a private practice. You can expect to pay around half as much as an established dentist would charge. Many dental schools also accept at least some forms of dental insurance.
Quality of Care
-
Dental colleges charge much less because you are agreeing to be treated by a student dentist-in-training, which can be a concern for some patients. Practicing dental students, however, are overseen and checked every step of the way by experienced, qualified faculty members. In fact, you're likely to encounter a higher level of expertise by getting treated at a dental school.
Time Commitment
-
Because every step of a procedure must be double-checked by a faculty member, treatments at a dental school take more time than equivalent treatments at a private clinic. A procedure may take twice as long at a dental school as at a traditional dentist.
Services
-
Because dental students need to learn to perform all types of dental procedures, you can get almost any type of work done at a dental school. Patients of all ages and states of dental health are generally accepted.
