Dental problems encompass conditions that affect the mouth and teeth. Plaque, tooth decay, canker sores, bruxism (teeth grinding), bad breath and gum disease are some of the more common forms of dental problems in humans.-

According to the Merck Manuals Online Medical Library, symptoms of dental problems include tooth pain, swollen gums, loose teeth, yellowed teeth and abnormal tooth enamel. If these symptoms develop, a dentist should be contacted as soon as possible.

The American Academy of Family Physicians suggests brushing teeth with fluoride toothpaste, at least twice a day. Teeth also should be flossed daily.
