How to Find a Dentist's Profile

If you need dental work done, you'll need to find a dentist you can trust and one who makes you feel comfortable. Unfortunately, simply looking up a dentist in the local phone directory doesn't tell you much about that specific dentist, beyond the fact that he calls himself a dentist. That's why you need to know where to look for dentists' profiles.

Open your Internet browser and go to a dentist directory like dentist.org and 1-800-dentist.

    • 2

Use the site's dentist search window by typing in your zip code or city in the appropriate box. You will be redirected to a page with a list of dentists in the area. Scroll to see if the dentist you are considering is on the list. If so, click on his name to view his profile.

Go to the American Dental Association's website if you could not locate a profile for the specific dentist you are considering. The ADA website will help you locate profiles for member dentists.

Click on the "Find a Dentist" link at the top of the page. Use the drop-down menus in the new page to specify the type of dentist you're looking for (general dentistry, cosmetic dentistry, etc.) or search for dentist by typing in an address and limiting your search by a number of miles. Alternately, you can type in the name of a dentist to see his profile.
