How to Make Dentures Stay in If They Are Always Coming Out

After you lose your natural teeth teeth, your jawbone is susceptible to losing bone mass over time. This is a natural process, however it may be responsible for your dentures falling out of place. As your bone recedes, your dentures may no longer fit you as well as they used to. To solve this problem, have new dentures created for you. You may also consider using a denture adhesive for your existing dentures. Denture adhesives can help dentures stay in place, even if they already fit you properly.

Instructions

    • 1

Visit a prosthodontist, a dentist who is specially trained to create and fit dentures, if your dentures are always coming out. Since your gums and bones shrink over time, you may need a new pair.

    • 2

Schedule regular appointments to check your dentures. This can help prevent future problems.

    • 3

Apply a denture adhesive before wearing your dentures. Even if your dentures fit well, you may benefit from the added security of using a denture adhesive.

    • 4

Dab three to four dots of denture adhesive to the upper denture. The dots should be about the size of a pencil eraser. Arrange the dots so that they are in the area where the denture will touch the roof of your mouth.

    • 5

Apply three to four dots of the adhesive around the lower denture. Space the dots evenly.

    • 6

Place the dentures in your mouth.

    • 7

Use a powdered adhesive if you have trouble with the paste adhesives. After cleaning your dentures, scatter a thin layer of adhesive powder around the inside of each denture. Place them in your mouth.
