Dentrix Tutorial

Keeping track of patients and their records in a dentist’s office can be chaotic work, especially for larger practices. There are hundreds of patients each month, and having to sort large piles of papers is time-consuming. Now there are better ways of organizing all of this information, and it comes in the form of computer software such as Dentrix. This is made especially for dental offices to record all of the patient information, including appointments, billing, and insurance forms.
  1. First Steps

    • Before installing Dentrix, you have to have all of the computer system requirements. If not, then you will have to purchase or install these first. Check on the label of the software program to find which requirements need to be fulfilled. As of 2009, the last version of this program is Dentrix G4. This does require you to have either Internet Explorer or Mozilla Firefox.

Insert the disc that runs the tutorial program for Dentrix. This may either start up automatically or you may have to open the program yourself manually, depending on your system. This tutorial will guide you through the system step by step.

    Adding Information and Practice

    • The order of these two may be different again depending on your system. Some will ask you to add the information of each patient as you go through the tutorial. If this is the case, then you will have a lot of practice throughout the tutorial. This is often done if this is the first time using a computer database for patient information storage. Otherwise you will be asked to use the various icons on each screen that loads.

If you are not prompted to add information at the beginning, the it is recommended that you practice with the system and go through each section again after the tutorial to make yourself familiar with it then go ahead with adding all of the patients. If you have been using an electronic database already, you can simply convert the information from one program to another. It is advised that you start the set up of this program while the office is closed to avoid mix-ups with patients.

    Customer Service

    • One of the greatest aspects of this is the support that Dentrix offers. They have a huge resource site available to anyone for help in every area possible. You can search for it under ‘Dentrix’ and it will be one of the first in the results on any search engine.

On this site, they include the options of chatting with them on the site, calling them through the site, emailing them, or you can use their actual phone number. There is always assistance available from the Dentrix tech and customer support staff.
