Home Remedy for a Gum Boil
Gum boils occur when the bacteria that create gum disease and gingivitis invades the mouth, causing small areas of infection. These painful and unpleasant sores can be treated with home remedies; however, even if you resort to these remedies, it is very important that you go to the dentist and learn the root cause for the problem. Gum disease is very serious, and sometimes teeth are lost as a result.-
Salt Mixture
-
Mix 1 tsp. of baking soda and 1 tsp. of cooking salt on a plate. Wet a cotton ball and then place it in the baking soda and cooking salt, letting it dissolve and soak up the mixture. Place the cotton ball on top of the gum boil and leave it there for as long as possible (preferably four or five hours). Repeat this three to four times per day.
Home Remedy Recipe
-
Mix together 3 tbsp. of activated charcoal powder, 1/2 tsp. of clove oil, 1/3 tsp. of cayenne pepper, 1/2 tsp. of olive oil and 1/2 tsp. of yellow root to form a paste. Smear the paste all over your boil or infected tooth. If the gum boil bursts during this process, rinse out your mouth with water, and then rinse your mouth with a 1.5 percent hydrogen peroxide solution.
Moving the Pus
-
Place a dry black teabag inside your mouth against the boil. Let the tea bag sit overnight. If you do not wish to sleep with the teabag inside of your mouth, simply place it against the boil for 4 hours or so while you continue with other activities. This will pull the infection forward and drain the pus, reducing pain and swelling.
