At Home Remedy for Removing Dental Glue
Dental glue is used to bind dentures, crowns, braces and other dental-related substances in your mouth. If you just left your dentist after a two-hour session to set a partial bridge and he left some dental glue on your teeth, don't worry. Dental glue is durable, can have a medicine taste and can be difficult to remove, but there are some home remedies you can try to get it off.-
Dental Pick
-
One home remedy for removing dental glue is to use a dental pick to scrape the glue from your teeth, gums, partials and dentures. Be careful with the pick, you don't want to cut into your gums or irritate your mouth. To ease possible irritation, have a glass of warm water ready to rinse your mouth out after you remove some of the glue.
Work in sections if you have a lot of dental glue to remove. If your gums or teeth are easily irritated, do not use this home remedy.
Hot Water Rinse
-
A simple hot water rinse is a quick home remedy for removing dental glue. Nothing special is needed---fill a drinking glass with the hottest water you can stand. Place about a cup of the hot water in your mouth and swish it around. Do not swallow the water or any dental glue it is breaking up. Keep swishing the hot water around for about 10 minutes. Spit the water and fragments of dental glue out and repeat the hot water rinse. Continue the hot water rinse until all fragments of dental glue are gone.
Ice & Hot Water Remedy
-
Another home remedy option for removing dental glue is to place one or two ice cubes in your mouth and roll them around until they melt. Do not swallow the water from the melted ice cubes. Just hold the ice cubes in your mouth. The ice cubes will help to loosen up the dental glue. Once the cubes have melted, spit out the water. Brush your gums, tongue, palate and teeth with a soft-bristled toothbrush, a mixture of toothpaste and 1 tsp. of baking soda and the hottest water you can stand. Make sure you focus on the dental glue build up. Rinse your mouth at least four times with the hottest water you can stand. Repeat the brushing step if small fragments of dental glue remain.
