According to the World Health Organization, tuberculosis (TB) was the 13th leading cause of death and the leading cause of death from a single infectious agent, ranking above HIV/AIDS. In 2020, TB claimed an estimated 1.5 million lives globally, of which 214,000 were people living with HIV.
