How to Set Denture Teeth

Dentures are a last resort for many dentists since they do not help maintain bone the way regular teeth do. A big fear many people have about dentures is their ability to stay in place. There are a variety of denture adhesives available on the market. Talk to your dentist to determine which adhesive works best with your lifestyle. Unnecessary embarrassment is caused when your dentures loosen while you talk or eat. Apply dental adhesive at any time of the day and whenever your dentures feel loose.

Instructions

    • 1

Hold the tube of denture adhesive in your hand for about 10 seconds, to warm it. Dry the dentures with a soft cloth.

    • 2

Squeeze three to four dabs, equally spaced, into both the top and bottom dentures. Place the dabs in a location that makes contact with your gums. Make the dabs no larger than a pencil eraser.

    • 3

Insert the dentures into your mouth and bite down. If adhesive oozes out from underneath the denture, you used too much.
