How to Apply Fixodent Adhesive

Some people are concerned that wearing dentures puts them at risk for embarrassing accidents or that their diet will be limited to soft foods that are easy to chew. In fact, dentures that fit well can enhance the quality of life for some people by improving their ability to chew and raising personal confidence. With daily brushing, regular dental checkups and the proper use of an adhesive, your dentures may feel so natural that you almost forget you're wearing them.

Instructions

    • 1

Clean your dentures as recommended by your dentist. Allow them to thoroughly air dry or pat them dry with a clean, lint-free cloth.

    • 2

Apply a thin, even strip of Fixodent to the entire gum side of the denture, keeping the adhesive away from the edges. Place several small dots of adhesive along the length of the plate, if spreading an even layer is too difficult.

    • 3

Position the denture in your mouth and hold it in place for several seconds while applying slight pressure. If adhesive squeezes out from the edges, remove the denture, clean it and start again -- using less adhesive. Too much adhesive can cause the plate to slide around in your mouth.
