What famous people died of appendicitis?
* George Orwell: The English writer and journalist, best known for his novels "Animal Farm" and "Nineteen Eighty-Four," died of complications of appendicitis in 1950 at the age of 46.
* Jimi Hendrix: The American guitarist, songwriter, and singer widely regarded as one of the most influential electric guitarists in history, died of complications from an overdose of barbiturates and alcohol in 1970 at the age of 27.
* Rudolf Diesel: The German inventor and mechanical engineer, who invented the diesel engine, died of apparent suicide by drowning in 1913 at the age of 55. Although officially ruled a suicide, there is speculation that he may have died from appendicitis.
