Peridex Side Effects

Peridex is the brand name for the drug chlorhexidine gluconate. Distributed by 3M, Peridex is provided in a mouth rinse prescribed to treat symptoms of gingivitis, including redness, swelling and bleeding of gums. Peridex kills bacteria associated with gum disease.

    • The most common Peridex side effects include altered taste, increased plaque and tartar and mild irritation.

    Additional Side Effect

    • Another common effect is the staining of teeth, fillings, dentures and other oral appliances. The effect may be worse on rough surfaces on dentures and fillings.
