What will happen if your tooth root grows through gum?
Pericoronitis: It refers to swelling of soft surrounding of erupted or partially erupted (impacted) crown such as an upper wisdom tooth with a gum flap extending over it in some individuals. It appears as painful inflammation and infection of operculum that covers partially erupted tooth. It cause painful chewing resulting in limited mouth opening that makes proper tooth care impossible, leading to decay inside decayed or carious areas or inside pulp in advanced period of decay . This is a reason for surgical removal of erupted/partially erupted teeth that grow over gums.
