Periolase Laser Gum Treatment
PerioLase is a non-invasive treatment option for gum disease. It replaces traditional surgery by utilizing a laser to destroy bacteria within the gum tissue. No cutting or stitches is required.-

PerioLase utilizes a six watt, neodymium incorporated yttrium aluminum garnet laser which is digitally controlled. There are seven programmed pulse durations that the dentist can choose from.
Applications

PerioLase is used for laser periodontal therapy. Primarily, it is used to treat gum disease. Other soft tissue procedures can utilize PerioLase as well.
Advantages

PerioLase is accurate, fast and less invasive than gum surgery. Laser treatment typically lasts a few minutes.
Side Effects

Patients may experience short term discomfort after the procedure. No pain is associated with the laser treatment.
Considerations

Individuals with superficial gingivitis (Class I) are not eligible for PerioLase treatment because their gum pockets are less than 5 mm. Individuals with gum pockets greater than 5 mm ( Class II, III, and IV) can be treated with PerioLase.
