Pros & Cons of Invisalign Braces

Invisalign offers adults and teenagers a different option for correcting malocclusions than traditional wire braces. A person can now have straighter teeth with neither the physical discomfort of braces nor the embarrassment that some people feel of having to wear braces. Unfortunately, Invisalign is not for everybody, as it can be more expensive than traditional orthodontics and is not as precise.
  1. Cosmetic

    • A popular reason to use Invisalign braces over traditional braces is that they're clear braces and are not very noticeable.

    Easy Removal

    • Invisalign braces can easily be removed, unlike traditional braces, allowing patients the ability to eat whatever food they like, and making it easier to clean them at home.

    Fewer Trips to the Dentist

    • Unlike traditional orthodontics which may require you to be at the dentist for 1-2 hours, once a month, Invisalign requires fewer visits (every four to six weeks) and typically much less time in the dentist's chair.

Will Only Work to Treat Minor Orthodontic Problems

    • Invisalign cannot treat severe overbites, crowded teeth or other complicated orthodontic corrections.

    It Can Cost More

    • The average cost for traditional braces is $5000; however, depending on how long your Invisalign treatments takes (every two weeks you get a new aligner to "correct" your teeth some more) it could cost as much as $8000.
