What is endodontics?

Endodontics is a branch of dentistry that deals with the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of diseases of the dental pulp and the tissues surrounding the root of a tooth. This includes procedures such as root canal treatment, which is used to treat infected or damaged pulp. Endodontists are dentists who have received additional training in endodontics and who specialize in the treatment of root canal systems and the surrounding tissues.
