How to Clean Retainers With the Sonic Cleaner

Many people who use braces to correct misaligned teeth must also wear a retainer for a period of time. This helps keep the teeth in the correct positions and train the muscles to hold them there. Clean your retainer once every day to rid it of food particles and bacteria. Your dentist might recommend a specific cleaning system, such as soaking the device in mouthwash. Otherwise, you can use an automatic cleaning system for dental appliances, such as the SonicBrite cleaner.

• Measuring cup
• ½ tsp. SonicBrite cleaner

  Turn on your faucet and wait for the water to warm up. Pour 3/4 cup warm water into the SonicBrite cleaning unit.

  Add 1/2 teaspoon of the SonicBrite cleaner to the water. You do not need to mix it in.

  Place your retainer into the water and close the lid.

  Turn the SonicBrite cleaning unit on and allow it to run for 15 minutes to clean your retainer.

  Remove the retainer and rinse it thoroughly before placing it back in your mouth.
