How to Santize Electronic Toothbrushes

An electronic toothbrush is more expensive than a manual toothbrush. Taking good care of your electronic toothbrush will keep it working optimally. Cleaning your toothbrush is an essential part of maintaining good dental health. Fungi, bacteria and viruses remain on your toothbrush after you've brushed your teeth. Once you use the same toothbrush again, you risk re-infection of your teeth and mouth. To prevent this from happening, you have to practice a good sanitizing technique.

Instructions

    • 1

Pour 1 cup of water into a glass and mix 2 tbsp bleach into it.

    • 2

Remove the head from your toothbrush and place the bristles into the glass with the bleach mixture. Soak the bristles for one hour.

    • 3

Rinse your toothbrush and the toothbrush head under running water for approximately one minute. Hang or place the parts upside down and allow them to air-dry. Avoid submerging your electronic toothbrush unit in water, because this may damage its circuit and stop it from working.

    • 4

Place the toothbrush into its charger once it is dry. Sanitize your brush in this manner at least once a month and also after a flu or cold. This way you know all bacteria and germs have been eliminated.

    • 5

Replace your electronic toothbrush head every three to four months and store your toothbrush in a clean, dry place in your bathroom. Keep the bathroom clean to avoid airborne bacteria from getting to it.
