Flossing Under a Bridge
-
1
Detach a piece of floss approximately 14 to 16 inches long from the floss container. Thread the floss through the hole end of the threader until at least 1/3 of the length is through.
-
2
Gently insert the stiffer end of the floss threader -- the end without the hole and threaded floss -- under the part of the bridge which has no tooth, and push the floss all the way through until it can be grabbed easily from the other side. Remove the threader.
-
3
Use both hands to hold the floss with only a short piece between each hand, approximately 1 to 2 inches. For added ease, wrap the extra floss around your fingers.
-
4
Slide the floss gently from one tooth to another, all the way across the bridge. When flossing next to teeth, be sure to shape the floss around the tooth to gently get under the gums and reach all sides of the tooth surface under the bridge.
-
5
Pull the floss out when finished cleaning.
