How to Clean Dental Caps

Dental caps or crowns are used to cover cavities that are too big for dental fillings or to cover parts of the tooth that have decayed over time. Areas surrounding the gum line and the dental cap or crown are the most susceptible to tartar and plaque build-up. Brushing along the gum line and flossing around the dental cap will help remove any harmful build-up from the dental cap or crown.

Instructions

Brush the area around the gum line near your dental cap or crown. Apply a small amount of toothpaste to a toothbrush and brush in a circular motion.

    • 2

Floss between your teeth. Wrap the ends of a piece of floss around your index fingers and slide the floss in between your tooth and the dental cap or crown. Move the floss around the gum line to remove plaque and tartar build-up between your teeth and the gums surrounding your dental cap.

Pour a small amount of fluoride into a small cup. Pour the fluoride in your mouth and swish it around for at least one minute. Then spit the fluoride into the sink. Do not swallow the fluoride; this can be very harmful.
