How to Use Flossers

Keeping you teeth clean by brushing and flossing will prevent gum disease and gingivitis. In addition to plaque removal, flossing will give you fresh breath and a brighter, whiter smile. Flossing should be done at least once a day for best results. Flossers are a great tool for children and the elderly in getting to those hard to reach places in your mouth, which makes the entire process a little easier.

Instructions

    • 1

Buy a flosser in the toothpaste aisle at any store that has health and beauty products. Flossers come with either a long handle with a floss head that snaps into place or as a package of smaller disposable ones with floss heads permanently attached and a pick on the opposite end.

    • 2

Guide floss gently between teeth, starting on either top or bottom working your way around entire mouth. Gently rock the floss back and forth easing it between the teeth, forcing it down can damage the gum and cause bleeding.

    • 3

Floss using a gentle up and down motion, making sure to get both sides of the teeth. Do this two or three times on each side before moving onto the next tooth.

    • 4

Throw out the head or disposable flosser when finished. Do not reuse due to bacteria being present after flossing. Use flosser at least once a day.
