How to Remove Dental Adhesive

Dental adhesive is a type of adhesive that is typically used to hold dentures in place inside the mouth. Occasionally, the adhesive is used for temporary dental work to tide someone over until more involved procedures can be done. Dental adhesive comes in three forms: paste, powder and strips. This dental adhesive is tricky to remove without the knowledge of the best way to remove the adhesive. Fortunately, adhesive removal is a simple process that can be done in only a few minutes.

Instructions

    • 1

Remove dentures from your mouth by gently rocking the teeth back and forth. This loosens the bond between the teeth and the mouth. Pull the dentures out of your mouth.

    • 2

Place the dentures in warm water and soak for about 10 to 30 minutes.

    • 3

Remove the teeth from the water. Place a strip of gauze over the teeth. Press the gauze into the moist adhesive. Gently pull the gauze away from the teeth to remove most of the adhesive from the surface of the teeth.

    • 4

Dip a toothbrush in warm water, then into salt. Brush the toothbrush over the surface of the teeth vigorously. This will remove the remaining adhesive from the surface of the teeth. Rinse the teeth with warm water.

    • 5

Clean the teeth with denture tooth cleaner. Apply some cleaner over a toothbrush and brush gently over the surface of the teeth to polish. Alternatively, you can use denture-cleaning tablets to remove remaining adhesive residue from the teeth.

    • 6

Place the teeth in warm water overnight to maintain a clean and sanitized surface. For further cleaning, drop a cleaning and whitening tablet into the water.
