How to Brush Your Teeth Out of a Water Bottle

Camping and hiking allow you to commune with nature, get fresh air and exercise, but it can be tough to maintain good hygiene. Brushing your teeth twice daily is a habit everyone learns as a child, but sometimes the great outdoors just does not provide the proper facilities or running water. You can do a good job of brushing your teeth with only a water bottle, toothbrush and toothpaste.

Hike away from your camp area; try to get at least 15 yards away from your tent and food preparation area. When you spit the water out, it will contain toothpaste and this aroma can attract bears and other forest animals, according to the Lower Gear website.

Wet your toothbrush by pouring a tiny bit of water onto the bristles. Put the cap back onto the water bottle and tuck it under your arm or hold it in one hand.

Brush your teeth thoroughly; don't forget the back teeth and to brush your tongue.

Pour a little water into your mouth by tilting your head upward and carefully holding the water bottle over your mouth while pouring water into it. This will prevent you from getting toothpaste residue on the edge of the water bottle and you can use it for drinking later.
