Waterpik Ultra Cordless Jet Tips

Since 1962, Waterpik has been a popular manufacturer of oral health-care products. A Waterpik device allows you to clean your teeth thoroughly in areas a toothbrush can't reach. Waterpik devices can potentially be more effective than dental floss at protecting gums and teeth. While Waterpik makes several devices, the Ultra Cordless Jet is its premium cordless device. While the the Ultra Cordless Jet is user-friendly, taking the time to learn some basic tips ensures you are getting the maximum benefit from the device.
  1. Basic Set-up

    • Keep your Waterpik Ultra Cordless Jet fully charged. If you have just purchased a new one, charge it for at least 24 hours before using the device. Make sure the power switch is turned off and plug the charging cord into your Waterpik and a working power outlet.

When you are ready to use your Waterpik, insert the tip into the base unit. Gently press the tip into the unit until it clicks into place. The Waterpik Ultra Cordless Jet comes with a variety of tips for you to use depending on your teeth-cleaning needs. To remove a tip to replace it with a different one, press the eject button on the base unit--but don't press the eject button while your Waterpik is running.

To finish setting up your Waterpik, fill up the reservoir. Unplug the unit if you haven't done so already, lift the flip-top on the reservoir, and fill it with lukewarm water. The reservoir is located at the base of the main unit, opposite the tip.

    Using a Waterpik Ultra

    • You can adjust the pressure setting on the Waterpik Ultra by flipping the pressure switch from low to high. For first-time use, Waterpik recommends using the low setting, and increasing pressure if needed.

Keep the unit upright when you are using it, as that ensures a continuous water flow. Also, using a Waterpik can get messy, so make sure you are standing over the sink when using it. This way any water coming out of your mouth will fall into the sink and not all over your bathroom floor.

To start using your Waterpik Ultra, just flip the power switch, located just below the tip, to the "On" position.

    Cleaning Tips

    • Keep your Waterpik Ultra at a 90-degree angle, just above the gum line. The Waterpik Ultra allows you to work your way down to the lower area of the teeth and other places a toothbrush can't reach. To clean your teeth, start with the back teeth and move along the gum line toward the front teeth. Make sure to pause in between each tooth to ensure maximum effectiveness. Start with your top teeth and move to the bottom teeth. Also, make sure to clean the back side of your teeth as well, again starting with the molars and moving forward.

    Troubleshooting Tips

    • If your Waterpik is leaking, make sure the reservoir is properly attached. The reservoir is removable for cleaning purposes, and it may leak if you don't properly reattach it. Waterpik also recommends emptying the reservoir after each use.

Check to ensure the unit is fully charged before each use, and the charger is plugged into a working outlet.
