What do you call tooth tissue?
The hard tissue that forms the main part of the tooth is called dentin. Dentin is located beneath the enamel on the crown of the tooth and beneath the cementum on the root. It is composed of a mineralized matrix of calcium phosphate and collagen fibers. Dentin is responsible for the tooth's strength and resilience. It also contains the dentinal tubules, which are microscopic canals that carry nerve fibers and blood vessels to and from the pulp of the tooth.
