Brush twice a day, everyday. Keeping your teeth clean is an essential part of not having to get an extensive cleaning at the dentist's office. Brushing once in the morning and once at night is an easy way to keep your teeth clean. Before your cleaning, make sure you brush with your normal toothbrush and toothpaste for at least two minutes. Use a back-and-forth motion as well as an up and down motion.

2
Floss the morning of your cleaning. Flossing daily is required in order to keep your teeth clean. Flossing clears out the areas between the teeth that your toothbrush can't reach. You may not enjoy conventional flossing, so try purchasing floss picks as they're easy to use. The ribbons work best because they slide in easier and get more gunk out.

3
Use mouthwash before your appointment. This ensures you will go into the appointment with a clean mouth, which makes the job for the dentist easier. If the dentists job is easier, you will get out quicker and on with your day faster.

Take any medications needed. People with heart murmurs, for example, are required to take a pill before they visit the dentist. Follow your doctor's orders in regards to any medication you should or should not take before arriving at your appointment.
