How to Check a Kid's Tooth Brushing
Instructions
-
-
1
Squeeze a pea-sized amount of children's toothpaste onto a soft-bristled children's toothbrush.
-
2
Watch the child brush the tops, backs and fronts of both his top and bottom teeth. Verify that the kid holds the toothbrush at a 45-degree angle and uses a gentle circular motion. Remind him to brush his tongue, and watch him move the bristles on his tongue's surface from back to front and back again several times.
-
3
Instruct the child to spit. Ensure that she does not swallow the toothpaste.
-
4
Give the child a cup of water, and watch him swish some of it in his mouth. Tell him to spit again.
-
5
Supervise the rest of the brushing process, which should last approximately two to three minutes. Look at the child's teeth when she's done, and brush them again quickly yourself, if necessary.
