How to Remove Coffee Stains From Teeth With Crest Strips

Crest Teeth Whitening Strips work by applying a mild bleaching agent, hydrogen peroxide, to the teeth and holding it in place with an adhesive backing for a few minutes twice a day. Coffee stains the teeth because the dark brown bean from which the coffee is extracted has a substance that is drawn into the microscopic holes in the enamel covering the teeth. Using Crest Whitening Strips correctly is part of a care plan to get your teeth as white as possible again.

Instructions

    • 1

Do not eat, drink or brush your teeth within one hour of applying the strips.

    • 2

Open the box and find the blue pouch marked with the word "Upper" and remove it from the box.

    • 3

Open the blue pouch by tearing along the perforated edge. Remove the strip and look for the saw-toothed edge that is the opening slit.

    • 4

Find the beginning of the slit and begin to remove the adhesive backing slowly. Do not tear it off quickly because you will remove material that is there to protect the strip as well as some of the whitening material.

    • 5

Look in a mirror and line up the strip with the gum line along the upper teeth. Press the strip gently in place against your teeth. Do not push it hard or jab at it.

    • 6

Let the strips remain in place for 30 minutes. Remove the strips by slowing pulling them off your teeth. Discard used strips immediately.

    • 7

Brush your teeth lightly to remove any excess material from your teeth. You may use mouthwash instead or in addition. Do this twice a day for two weeks or until the upper strips are gone, and then begin the process on the lower teeth. Repeat the procedure for the lower teeth only after the upper-teeth strips are used up.
