How to Easily Whiten Your Teeth

Having a bright, white smile can improve your self-confidence and carry over to other aspects of your life. Unfortunately, having your teeth professionally whitened is expensive and is not ordinarily covered by dental insurance because it is considered cosmetic. If you want to avoid the messy gels and trays, you have options for easily and inexpensively whitening your teeth at home. Another benefit to home remedies is that they contain no additives such as many commercial whitening products.

Brush your teeth at least twice a day with whitening toothpaste and a toothbrush with gentle bristles. Many readily available whitening toothpastes will get your teeth several shades whiter than an ordinary fluoride toothpaste. Floss daily to remove plaque which may lead to tooth decay and discoloration.

Brush your teeth daily with baking soda, following your normal oral care routine. Dip a wet toothbrush in baking soda, and brush over your teeth for 30 seconds, then rinse. You may also brush with hydrogen peroxide to whiten teeth, but be aware that it may burn your gums. Hydrogen peroxide is not recommended if you have any gum disease.

Brush your teeth with mashed strawberries to quickly and easily whiten. Take a large, fresh strawberry and cut off the stem. Cut the remainder of the strawberry into small pieces and mash it. Rub some of the mashed strawberries onto your toothbrush and brush for several seconds.
