How to Whiten Teeth at Home With Peroxide
White teeth can improve your appearance, but professional teeth-whitening can be costly. Hydrogen peroxide is the main whitening agent in over-the-counter and professional whitening systems. You can use hydrogen peroxide to whiten your teeth at home. It is an inexpensive alternative to professional whitening.Things You'll Need

Whiten Your Teeth With Hydrogen Peroxide
-
1
Brush your teeth with regular toothpaste, preferably one that contains hydrogen peroxide. Rinse your mouth thoroughly.
-
2
Pour a glass approximately a quarter full amount of peroxide into a glass. Take some into your mouth as you would do with mouthwash and swish it around the mouth. Be careful not to swallow any. Swish the peroxide for 30 seconds to a minute, or however long is comfortable. Spit it into the sink.
-
3
Rinse your mouth thoroughly with water. Rinse any remaining peroxide down the drain.
-
4
Repeat daily to achieve the desired effect. It usually takes at least two weeks to notice a difference. Once you have achieved the results you want, you can cut down to cleaning your teeth once per week with hydrogen peroxide. Continue to brush daily with your regular toothpaste.
Make Your Own Toothpaste With Peroxide
-
5
Make your own whitening toothpaste by combining hydrogen peroxide and baking soda. Add more baking soda to achieve the desired consistency if the mixture is too runny.
-
6
Dip the toothbrush into the mixture and brush your teeth as you would with regular toothpaste.
-
7
Spit and rinse your mouth thoroughly with water to remove any traces of the peroxide and baking soda mixture.
-
8
Repeat the process daily until you have achieved the desired results. You may alternate between using this mixture one day and your regular toothpaste the next.
Swab on the Peroxide
-
9
Apply peroxide directly to the teeth to whiten them. Pour a small amount of hydrogen peroxide into a glass. Dip a cotton swab into the peroxide and swab over the tooth.
-
10
Repeat the process with each tooth. It might be difficult to reach the backs and sides of all teeth, but the procedure will noticeably whiten the visible areas.
-
11
Rinse the mouth thoroughly with water to remove all remaining traces of the peroxide.
