Is it normal for your tongue to be numb after wisdom tooth removal?
It is not uncommon to experience numbness or tingling in the tongue, lower lip, and chin following wisdom tooth extraction. This is usually caused by the injection of local anesthetic during the procedure, which can temporarily block the sensation in these areas. The numbness typically resolves gradually over the course of a few hours to a few days, as the anesthetic wears off.
If you are concerned about the numbness, it is always advisable to consult with your dentist or oral surgeon. They can assess your condition and provide guidance and reassurance if necessary.
