How to Brush Teeth With Vinegar

If you have dull or yellowed teeth, home treatments for whitening can help you brighten them up and remove stains without a pricey trip to your dentist. Over-the-counter treatments often contain abrasive and harsh chemicals that could damage your teeth, especially if your teeth are sensitive. Vinegar is a simple alternative for getting your teeth whiter and putting your best smile forward.

Instructions

    • 1

Brush your teeth with regular, non-whitening toothpaste. You don't want to mix chemicals in a whitening toothpaste with the whitening power of white vinegar and overload your tooth enamel, so stick with a basic toothpaste that fights plaque and cavities.

    • 2

Flush out your mouth to remove the toothpaste. Pour 1/2 tablespoon of vinegar over the bristles of your toothbrush, and brush your teeth for a minute with the brush. Avoid brushing your gums; work around them, as vinegar can cause irritation to the gums. Rinse your mouth thoroughly. Repeat Steps 1 and 2 daily.

Pour 1/4 cup of baking soda in a bowl and add 1/4 cup of vinegar. Stir the foamy mixture to form a paste, and dab a small amount of this paste onto your index finger. Smile, and dab an even layer of paste onto the teeth that are showing. Wait a minute, then flush mouth with water thoroughly and spit out the paste. Do this twice a week.
