Should dental assistant wear long earrings and hair down?

Long earrings

- Earrings should not dangle or have sharp edges that could potentially injure the patient or the dental assistant.

- Long earrings can also get caught on the patient's clothing or hair.

Hair down

- Loose hair can fall into the patient's mouth or eyes and also obstruct the dental assistant's vision.

- Hair can also come into contact with the dental instruments and contaminate them.

Recommendations:

- Dental assistants should wear stud earrings or small hoop earrings that are close to the earlobe.

- Hair should be pulled back or tied up in a ponytail or bun to keep it out of the way.
