Can an infection from your wisdom teeth cause in brain or death?
The most common way that a wisdom tooth infection can spread to the brain is through a process called septic thrombophlebitis. This occurs when a blood clot forms in a vein near the infected tooth and becomes infected. The infected blood clot can then travel to the brain and cause a brain abscess or meningitis, both of which can be life-threatening.
In order to prevent serious complications, it is important to see a dentist as soon as possible if you have any symptoms of wisdom tooth infection, such as pain, swelling, or difficulty opening your mouth. The dentist will be able to diagnose the infection and recommend the best course of treatment.
