How to Use Ginger Root for a Toothache

Toothaches are uncomfortable and generally indicate a problem that will need to be treated by your dentist. Medication or dental surgery or something like a filling may be required to permanently solve the toothache. However, in the meantime, there are remedies for toothaches that can be used at home, including the application of ginger root.

      Cut off a small slice of ginger root. It should be a circular slice around the size of the tooth you plan to put it on.

      Wash and remove the skin from the ginger root. This will remove any dirt that could further irritate your tooth or gums.

      Place the slice of ginger root directly on the aching tooth or the area of your gums that is most painful. Bite down on the ginger. Chew it slowly and swirl the juices around the tooth.

      Reapply a fresh slice of ginger as you feel you need it. Store leftover ginger in the refrigerator.
