Toothache Home Remedies Using Hydrogen Peroxide

Hydrogen peroxide is a weak acid with bleaching abilities. It is produced by both animal and plant cells. It is also formed naturally in the environment by sunlight acting on water. Hydrogen peroxide 3% is available in local drugstores or pharmacies. It is safe to handle by humans, but it should not be ingested as a toothache remedy.
  1. Mouth rinse

    • Swirl a cap full of 3% hydrogen peroxide solution in your mouth. Do not swallow the hydrogen peroxide. Spit it out and rinse your mouth out with warm water afterward.

Rinsing your mouth out with hydrogen peroxide will help kill toothache-causing bacteria and relieve some discomfort.

You can use hydrogen peroxide several times a day for relief. Gargle with it after every meal in order to remove germs and bacteria, as well as to dislodge any pieces of food.

    Hot or cold compress

    • A hot or cold compress can be applied to your cheek after using a hydrogen peroxide mouth-rinsing remedy to provide additional toothache relief. Wrap an ice pack in a dishtowel for a cold compress and fill up a plastic water bottle with hot water to apply a hot compress to the cheek.
