How to Use Oragel

Orajel is a topical analgesic used to treat toothaches, canker sores and other minor mouth or tooth pain. This medicine can be found at stores in your local area. Orajel helps numb the pain with benzocaine until you can get to the dentist or doctor for more serious treatment or until the pain subsides naturally. Orajel can be used for children and adults, and is most often applied in a squeeze bottle gel form.

Instructions

    • 1

Brush your teeth and rinse thoroughly so you have no residue in your mouth.

    • 2

Open the Orajel package. Cut off the tip of the squeeze tube.

    • 3

Squeeze a small amount of the Orajel gel onto your finger. Hold your mouth open with your other hand around the area you are having pain.

    • 4

Pat and rub the Orajel carefully onto the painful spot in your mouth or on your tooth. Apply liberally.

    • 5

Wash your hands thoroughly after you use Orajel, as it can be an eye irritant.

Reapply Orajel when the numbing effect fades away, but do not use more than four times per day.
