Which enzymes work on fats?
1). Lipase: Breaks down triglycerides into glycerol and fatty acids. 2). Esterases: Specific lipases that cleave ester linkages in fats. 3). Phospholipase A: Removes the fatty acids from the sn-1 (alpha) position of phospholipids. 4). Phospholipase B: Removes fatty acids from the sn-2 (beta) position of phospholipids. 5). Phospholipase C: Removes the polar head group from phospholipids, leaving a diglyceride. 6). Phospholipase D: Breaks down phospholipids into phosphatidic acid and an alcohol. 7). Lipoprotein lipase: Hydrolyzes triglycerides in chylomicrons and very low-density lipoprotein (VLDL) particles. 8). Hormone-sensitive lipase: Mobilizes fatty acids from adipose tissue in response to hormones such as glucagon and epinephrine. 9). Monoacylglycerol lipase: Breaks down monoacylglycerols into glycerol and fatty acids. 10). Acyl-CoA synthetase: Activates fatty acids by converting them to acyl-CoA derivatives.
