Boiled Egg White Diet
An egg white is the portion that is high in protein and low in fat, cholesterol and saturated fat. There are several benefits to a diet that includes the consumption of boiled or cooked egg whites.-
Protein
-
There are more than 40 types of proteins in egg whites and several other nutrients, including zinc, calcium, phosphorus and potassium. The proteins in egg whites are easily absorbed into the body and contain amino acids, which are key to muscle development.
Calories
-
Egg whites from a typical large egg contain just 17 calories and are made up of almost 90 percent water. Boiled egg whites do not contain any fat or cholesterol and are less likely to carry harmful bacteria than the egg yolk is.
Consumption
-
Consuming raw egg whites is highly discouraged because of the potential presence of salmonella. Egg whites cooked, often boiled, in at least 134 degrees Fahrenheit for at least 3 1/2 minutes are ideal for consumption. There is no limit as to how many egg whites should be eaten per day, but it is recommended to have them at least twice a day in addition to other healthy food selections, including whole grains, fruits and vegetables.
