Difference Between Stacker 2 and Stacker 3

Stacker is a brand of diet and energy pills manufactured by NVE Pharmaceuticals, Inc. Stacker pills contain herbs and caffeine to help increase metabolism and energy after they are taken. Stacker products are not available to people under 18 years of age and are not evaluated by the FDA.
  1. What is Stacker?

    • Stacker pills contain proprietary blends of several herbs and natural ingredients that are meant to stimulate the metabolism and increase energy.

In addition to ingredients that are supposed to stimulate metabolism and increase energy, some forms of Stacker pills also contain ingredients that are thought to increase fat-burning ability, although these statements are not evaluated or backed by the Federal Drug Administration.

Stacker is available in many pharmacies, department stores and even gas stations.

    What is in Stacker 2?

    • Stacker 2 contains a proprietary blend of herbs and naturally occurring ingredients. It does not contain ephedra.

The ingredients found in Stacker 2 diet pills include 198mg of kola nut seed extract (3mg of caffeine alkaloids); yerba mate fruit; extract from the pods, leaves and stems of the Cassia mimosoides plant; white willow bark; 200mg of anhydrous caffeine; green tea leaves (1mg caffeine alkaloids); guggulsterone plant and gymnema plant leaves.

Non-active ingredients of Stacker 2 include dextrose, gelatin, stearic acid, magnesium stearate, titanium dioxide, FD&C Blue #1, Red #3 and Yellow #6.

    What is in Stacker 3?

    • Stacker 3 also contains a proprietary blend of herbs and naturally occuring ingredients. Unlike Stacker 2, it does contain ephedra.

The active ingredients of Stacker 3 include: 25mg of ephedrine alkaloids (ephedra extract); kola nut seeds (1mg caffeine alkaloid); white willow bark; grapefruit extract; chitosan (from shellfish); 250mg of anhydrous caffeine; green tea leaves (1mg caffeine alkaloid); guggelsterone plant; and gymnema plant leaves.

Non-active ingredients in Stacker 3 include: gelatin, calcium phosphate, stearic acid, magnesium stearate; titanium dioxide; FD&C Red #3, Blue #1 and Red #40.

What is the difference between the two?

    • The additions of chitosan (an ingredient derived from shellfish that is thought to inhibit the absorption of dietary fat), ephedra and 50mg of extra anhydrous caffeine set Stacker 3 apart from Stacker 2.

Stacker 2 contains more caffeine alkaloids from kola nuts and also contains yerba mate fruit and Cassia mimosoides extract, ingredients that Stacker 3 lacks.

It is the ephedra and chitosan, however, that really put Stacker 3 ahead of the game as far as potency is concerned.

    Considerations

    • Both Stacker 2 and Stacker 3 contain caffeine in large quantities. Because of the caffeine alone, both types of pills will cause a spike in energy. For the same reason, however, both types of pills also may cause a jittery feeling, especially in people who are sensitive to the effects of caffeine.

    Warnings

    • If you experience rapid heartbeat, dizziness, headache or problems breathing while taking either Stacker 2 or Stacker 3, consult your physician at once or go to the nearest emergency room.

If you are allergic to shellfish, you should never take Stacker 3 as it contains chitosan, an ingredient that is derived from shellfish.
