Phentermine Alternative

Phentermine is a prescription drug that is approved for use by the Food and Drug Administration. It is prescribed for weight loss due to its appetite-suppressing qualities. If you are looking for the same or similar benefits that phentermine provides, there are some drug alternatives. Please note, however, that you should always consult a doctor before starting any kind of new medication.
  1. Phentramin-D

    • Although not technically approved by the FDA, this phentermine-alternative drug was developed in an FDA-approved laboratory, providing it with more credibility than some of its competitors. It also is not an herbal-based alternative, further separating from other phentermine alternatives. Phentramin-D contains no amphetamines, reducing some of the health risks associated with other diet pills. Phen-D, as it is usually referred to, is said to provide users with increased energy, weight loss and appetite suppression by triggering the release of certain neurotransmitters in the brain that control appetite and metabolism.

    Phentramine

    • Like Phen-D, Phentramine is an over-the-counter, nonprescription diet pill that is not approved by the FDA. Phentramine contains certain naturally occurring herbal substances such as hoodia. Hoodia is a plant similar but unrelated to the cactus. It has been noted for its abilities to help patients with weight loss and weight control. However, users of phentramine have noted that it is not as effective as phentermine and can cause nausea. In addition, some users of phentramine have complained that the drug's name was derived to purposefully mislead consumers that the over-the-counter alternative was actually the original prescription drug.

    Fedramine

    • Advertised as mimicking the effects of both Phentermine and Ephedra, an illegal stimulant, Fedramine is another herbal alternative. Like other alternatives, Fedramine is said to speed up metabolism, providing users with an energy boost while suppressing their appetites. Ingredients in Fedramine include citrus aurantium, a stimulant derived from citrus fruits; metabromine, an extract and stimuulant derived from the cocoa tree; green tea, an antioxidant; chromium, a mineral that supposedly enhances insulin action; white willow bark, a natural pain reliever; and guarana, another stimulant.
