Side Effects of the Alli Diet

The Alli diet includes the Alli pill, which contains orlistat. Orlistat prevents your body from absorbing some of the fat you eat. There can be unpleasant side effects associated with your body not absorbing the fat you consume.

Uncontrollable Bowel Movements

• Uncontrollable bowel movements (a bowel movement you are unable to hold in) can be a side effect of the Alli diet.

Oily Anal Leakage

• Oily anal leakage can happen if you are eating more fats than recommended while taking Alli. You may not realize it until you see oily spots in your underwear.

Oily Gas

• You may experience a release of an oily substance when you pass gas.

Loose and Frequent Bowel Movements

• Because Alli prevents your body from absorbing some fat, it will have to pass through your bowel instead. This can cause more frequent and looser bowel movements.
