  Phendimetrazine is a prescription diet drug similar to Phentremine. This drug is sometimes called Bontril, Adipost, Anorex-SR, Appecon, Melfiat, Obezine, Phendiet, Plegine, Prelu-2 or Statobex and is a stimulant used as an appetite suppressant. Phendimetrazine is similar to an amphetamine. Phendimetrazine stimulates the central nervous system, increasing heart rate and blood pressure and decreasing appetite. This drug should only be used for a few weeks at a time, and it is meant to be taken only by the obese.

Side Effects of Phentremine

• When used for weight loss, common side effects of Phentamine include itching, nervousness, constipation or diarrhea, dizziness, headache, tremors, odd taste in mouth, dry mouth and difficulty sleeping. Serious side effects include rapid weight gain, shortness of breath, swelling, confusion, light-headedness, chest pain, restlessness, unusual behavior or thoughts, uneven or fast heartbeat, extremely high blood pressure, ringing in the ears, anxiety, blurred vision, seizures and severe headaches. In some people, an allergic reaction can occur.

Side Effects of Phendimetrazine

• Use caution when driving or operating machinery. Phendimetrazine may cause dizziness, blurred vision or restlessness, and it may hide the symptoms of extreme fatigue. If you experience these effects, avoid hazardous activities. Phendimetrazine is habit forming. You can become physically and psychologically dependent on this medication, and withdrawal effects may occur if you stop taking it suddenly after several weeks of use. Talk to your doctor about stopping this medication gradually. Do not crush, chew or open any "once-daily" phendimetrazine tablets or capsules. Swallow them whole.
