Hydroxycut Side Effects

Hydroxycut, a series of weight loss products, has sparked interest over the past few years due to its benefits, as well as its dangers. The supplement is clinically proven to be effective, according to makers Muscletech, but the Food and Drug Administration has warned against its use. In fact, 14 different Hydroxycut products were recalled by the FDA in 2009. These are a few side effects that have been reported by Hydroxycut users.
  1. Headaches

    • Hydroxycut is meant to stimulate your metabolism and thus contains caffeine. As many of us know firsthand, caffeine can cause headaches, which is one commonly reported side effect of Hydroxycut. Cutting back on caffeine while taking the supplement may help to reduce headaches.

    Insomnia and Jitteriness

    • Because Hydroxycut contains caffeine, it can induce hyperactivity and may cause jitteriness and difficulty sleeping. To avoid insomnia, do not take the pills five hours before bedtime, and avoid mixing with other things high in caffeine.

    Liver Damage

    • Many Hydroxycut products were recalled in May 2009 by the FDA due to reports of liver damage and death.

High Blood Pressure and Heart Problems

    • Because the drug is a stimulant, it has been linked to high blood pressure and heart problems such as increased heart rate, irregular heartbeat and heart palpitations. If you experience any of these side effects you should notify your doctor and stop taking the pills.
