Model's Diet & Exercise

If you're interested in becoming a model, it's important to know how to care for yourself so that you can look and feel your best. Models have to adhere to a healthy diet and get enough exercise, and following healthy habits can make for a successful career.
  1. Regular Exercise

    • It's essential for models to work out at least four times a week. This will help models to maintain the ideal weight for their specific jobs and will keep muscle tone intact. Spot training can also be very helpful for models who showcase a specific part of their bodies during photo shoots, such as the abs or legs. It is also a good idea to work out the day of a photo shoot in order to maintain tone and improve the shape of the body.

    Types of Exercise

    • Models should not do too many exercises that will add bulk to the body. Doing a number of repetitions when it comes to weight training will help to elongate the muscles and give the physique a lean appearance. Leg extensions, as well as bicep curls with light weights are ideal exercises for models to include in their workout regimen. Tone and an elongated silhouette can also be achieved with exercises that require using one's own body weight, such as doing push-ups on the ground or leg lunges against a wall.

    Eating Habits

    • Contrary to what some aspiring models may think, it is not a good idea to starve the body in order to lose weight. Models should eat regularly in order to keep their metabolism in order. If a model is trying to lose weight, it is best to eat five or six small meals a day so that the body's metabolism can become elevated and fat will be burned from the body quicker.

    What to Eat

    • Models should eat fresh fruits and vegetables each day, along with lean meats (if not vegetarian) and whole grains. This not only keeps the body functioning properly, but also gives the skin a healthy glow because these foods help to eliminate toxins from the body. Vegetable consumption can also help to improve the look of the eyes and teeth.

    What Not to Eat

    • It's important for models to stay away from processed foods. These turn into sugar in the body very quickly, and can cause fatigue and sluggishness. It's also a good idea to stay away from large amounts of coffee. While the caffeine in coffee does provide a temporary energy boost, it can cause fatigue after the sugar wears off and has the potential to stain teeth. A typical workday for a model can be very long, so it's important to eat foods that will keep energy levels up.
